Hand Lettering Workshops

A crazy thing happened this summer, all from a single conversation.

I was working with a client (Andrew Abaria - check him out here!) and we were chatting about combining personal life goals with work. We discussed that as creatives, and also entrepreneurs, most of the time we can not separate our lifestyle from our craft and/or our craft from our lifestyle. They are very much one in the same.

From this concept, I decided to combine two of my passions, traveling and hand lettering. I have been teaching hand lettering classes in the York, PA region for a little over a year. People really enjoy the classes, so I thought, "Why not put it out there to see if I could host classes in cities around the US?"

It just so happens that people LOVE learning something new. I've been to the greater Memphis, TN region, Tallahassee, Florida and Thomasville, Georgia all with sold-out workshops!

In September I am headed to Rochester, NY to teach a class; Later in November I am headed back to Tallahassee and Thomasville, and there is interest growing for me to host classes in Winston-Salem, as well as Charlotte, NC. I couldn't be more excited!

Needless to say, I'm now a traveling hand-letterer and I am working to book additional workshops. It combines my love of traveling and exploring new cities/areas with the passion and love that I have for hand lettering.

Sometimes we see a potential path, but the details remain murky. What I have learned this summer is that you need to simply go for it, whatever it may be. Success or failure aside, working out one of these paths in life equates to satisfaction. A quote that hung in my family home growing up that now hangs in my design studio by Ralph Waldo Emerson is "We find in life exactly what we put into it." and it could not ring more true.

If you are interested in being a host of a hand lettering workshop, please feel free to email me or fill out my contact form and I will send you information. I would love to partner with more people and places, spreading the excitement for working with your hands in such a digital age.

Leslie & Nik | Wedding | Malvern, PA & Osenbach, France

Leslie and Nik's weddings were nothing short of incredible. From Leslie's succulent dress, to Nik's custom tailored suit, every small detail of thought was for the celebration of their love. Their celebrations of love were perfect reflections of who they are as individuals, and as a couple.

Every invitation had a four leave clover and dried flowers on it handpicked by Leslie, the yurt was a wedding gift they turned into a hookah lounge, all the table decorations were carefully placed and set up by the bride.

A few more jaw dropping details included: A living succulent bar, Leslie's handmade succulent dress she wore to the cocktail hour before the ceremony, the abundance of greenery all over the reception tent, and the boutonnieres with mushrooms.

Needless to say, no detail was left uncared for or unthought of. This wedding was incredible, just like Nik and Leslie's love. Enjoy!

A large portion of Nik's family lives in Germany so a month after their PA wedding, Nik and Leslie invited all their family and closest friend's to gather in Osenbach, France for another ceremony. Due to the downpour of rain on their wedding day in May and the simple fact we were in the most charming town ever, Nik, Leslie and I snuck away before the ceremony in Osenbach for portraits.

Behind the Bash | Historic Shady Lane | Manchester, PA

This past weekend I attended a wedding show as a vendor. If an 18-year-old Chelsea were to be casually talking one day to the current 28-year-old Chelsea and said, "This year in your life you will be a vendor at a wedding show," the 18-year-old version of myself would have nervously giggled, turned and quickly run away.

That is an extremely accurate portrayal BUT I am growing, I am digging deep, I am working to refine who I am as an individual and an entrepreneur. I believe in designing for good, designing affordably, and knocking people's socks off with incredible designs in the mean time.

You see, as a graphic designer, I initially thought it would be perfect for me to "sit behind a desk and design pretty things" all day. Alone. In an office. And did I mention, with no one around. Yet the rewards of that environment were limiting and I found I wasn't really fulfilled as a designer and a human. So I pushed myself...

This weekend at Behind the Bash, I took my natural introvert hat off, and with the support of so many people who love me, I went for it. I talked with parent's of couples, brides, grooms, partners, other entrepreneurs, wedding gown models, and so many more. Each with their own unique story, how they met their partner, what they want their wedding to be like, the day they are getting married, and so on. It was fulfilling.

I found the mints and chocolates at my booth made people feel welcome. (I strongly believe that food unites people. I'm Italian, what can I say. :-D) My mom came as a volunteer in advocating for my business and where I fell short, she was there to help me through. She kept making me laugh in between conversations and picked up where I sometimes drew a blank or had to speak to more than one couple at a time.

I am proud to have been asked to place menus and table numbers on the Foster's Flower Shop inspiration tables. Shout out to Marcy Almoney for helping me get my name out there a little bit more. She is an inspiring small business owner and a great human being. :)

Girl Carnivore | Blogger | Branding Project

A couple of years ago I met Kita Roberts at a photography workshop. We kept in touch and have followed each other's work since then. Last spring Kita approached me on being the designer to help her re-brand her fantastically magical and amazing blog, Girl Carnivore. If you have any fancy towards meat and incredible recipes, YOU MUST visit her blog!

Kita is inspiring to be around. She is the perfect blend of sassy, kind and funny. Any time we have spent together it has been full of laughs and fun. Kita wears many hats and balances them all with dedication and hard work.

It was a pleasure to work with her and help the vision she had for Girl Carnivore come to life! The "Girl Carnivore" on this project is custom hand lettering I did just for Kita and I couldn't have completed this project without the assistance of Jesus Rosario. Below is the style sheet for her project.
