Invitations | California Styled Shoot | TRINITY Photography

This spring I had the pleasure of being asked by TRINITY Photography to be the graphic designer for a styled shoot that was organized. I agreed with much anticipation to hear more about the vision for the shoot and then when I learned all the vendors had to be approved by BHLDN before they would agree to having one of their dresses in the shoot, it added to the hype! Thankfully I was approved as a vendor, and the vision TRINITY Photography had for the shoot helped me create my favorite invitation work to date!

Let me know your thoughts and what your favorite aspect of the invitation, reply card, menu and place cards is! I personally can't get enough of the gold pen I used. :)

Spring Forward | York, PA | Branding Style Sheet

I had the pleasure of working with the amazing team at The Parliament Arts Organization for their event, Spring Forward, where fashion, fine art and community collide into one extravagant evening.

From the styled shoot for the marketing materials to the development of the logos, posters, and billboards, it was a project I enjoyed from start to finish.

Check out the below style sheet and let me know what you think! :)

Bo + Julie | Sia Ying Pun, Hong Kong | Engagement Session

Where to begin writing this post!? It will be best explained in points...

  1. Julie and I have known each other since 1st grade. When you know someone for that long there is a sense of familiarity. A sense of belonging and "home" - it had been years since Julie and I had been able to spend quality time together, so when the opportunity arose for me to visit her in Hong Kong, I jumped at it. Not only was I going to be able to visit with a friend who has known me almost my entire life, I was going to see a glimpse into her life in Hong Kong.
  2. Julie has always been a person I have admired. We played soccer together, we grew up together, we were in many of the same classes all through high school together, and in each of those circumstances, Julie has demonstrated good character and kindness.
  3. In some instances, the world can be incredibly small. Bo and I have a mutual friend from Texas named Drew. Bo and I had no clue we shared a mutual friend until Bo and Julie met in Hong Kong, Julie visited Texas and she met our mutual friend, Drew. Needless to say, it is a funny story and the extended version is a blog post in and of itself.
  4. And lastly, my trip to Hong Kong and spending time with Bo and Julie helped my heart. There is no denying that 2015 was a year of unexpected twists and turns and I came out of it rather guarded. The time I spent with Jules: laughing, chatting, exploring and as I watched the love that she shares with Bo, and that Bo has for her, I was reminded that having an open heart is undeniably a beautiful thing. I feel fortunate I was able to spend time with Julie as "an adult" (if you can even call us that). Better yet, it was refreshing seeing Julie and Bo interact, to see that they are the "same type of weird" together.

With all that being said, Julie, Bo and I spent two sessions over a couple of days taking engagement photos. Hong Kong is a magical wonderland of many beautiful backdrops and it was one of the best experiences of my career to capture two of my friends, Julie and Bo, their love, all in the city in which they found it.

the yearly phone purge...

It is that time of year when I clear out my phone. A fresh start for my iPhone picture albums and time to seek new adventures!

From Moab, Utah to Atlanta, Georgia and motorcycle adventures in PA and California, here are the best moments, bloopers, trials and experiences of 2015.

Thank you to every one who loves me, laughs with me and is going through this crazy journey of life with me. Lots of love to each of you! <3

to write is to feel.

I am not a writer.

And by that I mean I am a terrible writer. Copy, poetry, bios, short stories, not my forté at all...

BUT I am a writer.

And by that I mean I love to write. The feeling of putting a pen to paper, different pens, the colors, words, their compositions, letterforms, typography, each letter and it's unique characteristics.

My love of writing has always been there. Ask my mom and dad how many times in church they would look over and there I was writing. Typically never about what was actually going on in church, rather different words or names that flowed out of my pen in an unusual way.

As my writing evolved I became more intentional about my day to day handwriting in high school and through out college because it could "speak for me" and my style.

Today I have the pleasure of being able to do hand lettering and "write" as a part of my business. From wedding invitations to branding projects people have begun requesting my writing and it blows my mind.

When it comes down to it, I guess I wanted to throw out there to everyone, never think that some thing you love is trivial or unimportant. You never know how a passion may evolve over time. Don't give it up. Keep on loving what you do, it just might turn into "work" that is not work at all some day.
