For people just getting to know me, I am a bit adventurous with a slight twinge of crazy.
It runs in my family.
The Friday after my nephews Alexander Thomas and Wesley Oak were born my cell phone rings at work. It was my dad. Now my dad, mom and sisters all have some wild texting threads going all the time. They pertain to anything and everything. Of course since Alexander and Wesley's arrivals, on the same day I might add, it had been lots of newborn pictures and my dad and I trying to figure out how we were going to get to see at least ONE of our new family members that weekend.
So back to the phone call.
I answer the phone and my dad says, "Do you wanna do something crazy?"
"How crazy?" I replied.
"Well, let's go to Charlotte on Sunday."
"Let me call Mike to see if he can come, but I am in."
And then it was a flurry of phone calls. To Mike, and back to my dad, and then Mike called my dad and all this is happening on my busiest day of the week at work. Once we settled into the plan it was all hands on deck. Mike had a youth fundraiser on Saturday and I had a wedding to shoot, so we made sure to pack that morning and we drove to York and spent the night at my parents house. By 4am, we were on the road to Charlotte in my dad's truck.
I think it was the most chipper I have ever been at 4am, ever.
I got to spend 16 hours in my dad's truck with the two men I love most in this world over the course of the 36 hours. My dad and Mike. On top of it I was going to see my new nephew, Alexander Thomas, my sister Tiffani and her husband Benjamin for 6.5 hours in between that time. My heart was overflowing. It has been for awhile.
There is something so crazy about family. It just fills me up.
While we were at Tiffani and Ben's, Tiffani laid down for a few minutes and so I took a few minutes to take some quick pictures of Alexander. Newborns are so tiny, and it made me so nervous, but I gave it a try. Here are a few photos from that day and you can see the rest at this link: http://chelseafoster-hilt.pixieset.com/alexanderthomasspangler/ (Family members, you can buy prints right in that gallery :))
Mike snapped this picture without me knowing it. It was a fun surprise to find on my phone! :)
He started getting a little wobbly on the books and my dad steady him. :)
Tiny baby ear!
And now... Mike and I are trying to plan our trip to Florida to give big hugs to Rachelle, Dan, Will and snuggles to Wesley Oak. <3 Oh, and I will totally have my camera on that trip too :-P
